Custom Type
Consultation and Design
Our experienced, award-winning team of world-class type designers, technicians and consultants
can produce a single custom font or a complete range of typefaces tailored for your specific
needs in order to help further define your corporate identity. If you already have an idea, a
sample of letters, or a rough piece of artwork, we can precisely digitize or restyle an already
existing typeface to your exact specifications. Every design grows into a carefully crafted original.
Some of our unique design services include the creation of special characters and new weights or styles
for existing typefaces, addition of foreign language support such as Greek, Cyrillic, Turkish and Central
European fonts, and production of fonts in any format or ISO standard.
We are able to help you obtain the appropriate and necessary font licenses, nationally or globally,
whether it is for a single font or a library of fonts.
Because of the large number of technical issues involving the current use of fonts and graphic file
formats, we advise our clients to consult us at the earliest stage of any type design project
development. We understand our clients' needs. We can research and suggest the most effective methods
to achieve your objectives, by determining multiple project options and strategies.
Font Conversion
Typefaces vary in many ways and may not always be compatible. Font format and platform
compatibility may present several problems, depending on the software and/or operating system
you are using. By converting fonts into versatile, cross-platform typefaces or bitmaps, you can
access these products on virtually any computer. Common conversions generally include all of the
following platforms and formats: Macintosh, Windows, PostScript, TrueType and OpenType; we also
make embeddable fonts for printers and hand-held devices.
In short, we can help you convert any font to any standard format, guaranteed.
Font Hinting
Hinting is the process of adding instructions to a text font, pixel by pixel, to produce a
superb image on screen, without changing the look of the printed output. Fonts that have been
optimized or 'delta' hinted look significantly better on your screen and are easier to read. It is
also accurate to suggest that word-processing with unhinted fonts can severely strain your eyes.
Hinting is a highly skilled and time-consuming process, but not all fonts benefit from the use of this
technology. As a result, we advise our clients to consult with us first.
